Information about our Local Authors:
Lynn (Sellers) Mack is a native of West Salem, the fourth generation of the Sellers family to reside there. Since childhood, Mack has loved all kinds of history. She enjoyed hearing her father recount memories of growing up in West Salem during the 1940’s & 50’s. His stories sparked her interest, and the West Salem book fulfills a promise to her father to compile the stories. For the past several years, Mack has been an active volunteer with the Polk County Historical Society & Museum.
Deb Meaghers has always been fascinated by history, especially the practicalities of everyday life. Living and working in West Salem for 30 years, Deb and her husband built homes which helped shape the neighborhoods in this unique area. This is her first co-authoring venture, which has proven to be a rewarding opportunity to learn more and share the history of this delightful community. Ms. Meaghers is a member of the historic preservation program for the City of Salem.
Kimberli Fitzgerald has been a resident of Oregon for almost thirty years. Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Kimberli holds a Masters degree in City Planning with a Certificate in Historic Preservation from the University of Pennsylvania. Currently, she is a historic preservation planner with the City of Salem. She has worked throughout Oregon on a variety of preservation and planning projects in Oregon cities ranging from Ashland to Astoria. Ms. Fitzgerald was a co-author for the Arcadia book Hillsboro, published in 2009.
Christy Van Heukelem has made Salem home for the past 35 years and is a sixth generation Oregonian whose ancestry can be traced to the 1843 Great Migration to Oregon. Christy is a member of the Oregon Historical Society where she is currently transcribing 33 years of her great grandfather’s diaries. Van Heukelem and Ron Fuller, author of Oregon at Work, have joined forces and written three books for Arcadia Publisher: Images of America: Salem; Images of America: Newberg, and the soon to be published Images of America: McMinnville.
